The God Who Leads Us Home

Aug 2, 2026    Andrew Ivester

Pastor Andrew walks us through Exodus 13:17-22 and shows us that the God who redeems His people also leads them with wisdom, faithfulness, and abiding presence. After delivering Israel from Egypt, God did not take them by the shortest route, but by the route that was best for them, showing that His ways are wiser than ours even when they seem confusing. The carrying of Joseph’s bones reminded Israel that God keeps His promises across generations and that Egypt was never their true home. The pillar of cloud by day and fire by night showed that God Himself was present with His people, guiding and protecting them through the wilderness. The sermon connects this presence to Jesus Christ, who is Immanuel, the light of the world, and the One who leads His people in a greater exodus from sin to eternal life. Believers today may not always understand the road God chooses, but they can trust His character, His promises, and His presence. The God who brings His people out of bondage will lead them all the way home.
