The School of the Wilderness (Part 1)

After redeeming Israel from Egypt and bringing them through the Red Sea, God led His people into the wilderness to test their hearts and teach them to depend on Him. Their grumbling over bitter water at Marah revealed that they still struggled to trust God’s provision, even after witnessing His mighty salvation. God used the wilderness not to abandon them, but to discipline, refine, and train them for their good. Through the daily provision of manna, He taught Israel to rely on Him one day at a time instead of stockpiling security for the future. This daily bread pointed forward to Jesus, the true Bread of Life, who is the greatest gift God gives. Christians are called to see trials not as evidence of God’s absence, but as His loving work to deepen faith and dependence. In every wilderness season, God’s people can trust that He is present, He will provide, and He is preparing them for the day when suffering will be no more.
